Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated Assistant Registered Nurse (RN) to join our team at Advocate Aurora Health. This position involves assisting RNs in providing essential care to patients in the Med Surg specialty. As an Assistant RN, you will play a crucial role in patient care, ranging from daily activities to documentation and specimen collection.

Major Responsibilities

  • Assist RNs in patient care activities such as bathing, feeding, and mobility assistance.
  • Document patient data accurately in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system.
  • Communicate patient observations and needs effectively to RNs.
  • Participate in admission, transfer, and discharge processes.
  • Collect and test specimens following approved processes.
  • Maintain cleanliness and order in the nursing area.
  • Support patients' nutritional needs and skin integrity.
  • Follow infection prevention protocols and demonstrate knowledge of patient care principles.

Licensure, Registration & Certification

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required within 45 days.
  • Nurse Aide registration in good standing.

Education

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.

Experience

  • No prior experience required.

Skills & Abilities

  • Basic computer skills.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to set priorities effectively.
  • Willingness to maintain required educational certifications.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift, bend, and perform various physical tasks.
  • Functional vision and hearing.
  • Exposure to potential hazards requiring protective measures.
