Job Description

We are seeking a Header Operator to join our team at MacLean-Fogg. This role involves setting up and operating cold header machines to cold form products. The ideal candidate should foster a culture of disciplined continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

  • Read and comply with process control sheet and work instructions for product specifications
  • Set up and run cold headers, make necessary adjustments, and ensure compliance with quality standards
  • Properly lubricate equipment, perform oil changes, and conduct minor machine repairs
  • Obtain necessary tools for the next order prior to changeover and ensure proper functioning of load monitors
  • Instruct trainee in machine set-up and operation, and assist in unloading steel trucks and weighing of tubs at the staging area
  • Sort parts when necessary, load machines, weld wire, and remove raw material from inventory
  • Report equipment malfunctions, production shortages, excessive tool usage, or system failures to Supervisor
  • Dump scrap into designated container, weigh, and fill out scrap ticket, and check empty containers for positioning of container identification and absence of foreign parts
  • Keep machines and work area neat and clean, and assist in keeping the overall appearance of the shop clean and orderly
  • Complete necessary records for production and downtime, and follow work instructions for first and last piece tickets
  • Assist maintenance in machine repair, training new hires and trainees, and ensure proper operation and lubrication of wire drawing equipment
  • Produce quality parts and perform data collection and entry for all attributes, SPC, or other data collection sheets for computer entry
  • Have gages checked if dropped or damaged and follow all Safety, Environmental, and Quality policies and procedures

Experience and Education

Perform work under minimal supervision, handle moderately complex issues and problems, and refer more complex issues to higher-level staff. Possess solid working knowledge of subject matter, typically require a high school diploma or equivalent, and 3 years of experience.
