Job Description

The Registered Nurse Vascular Access at Manatee Memorial Hospital provides consultation for providers and nurses for the most appropriate vascular access device based on patient assessment and treatment plan. They place vascular access devices such as peripheral intravenous catheters (PIV), Peripheral Inserted Central Catheters (PICC), and Midline catheters, and manage central venous access devices including routine dressing changes and cap changes. The nurse also provides patient/family education for care and maintenance techniques and ultrasound machines. They contribute to providing safe and competent nursing care for patients in accordance with facility policies, standards, and philosophies, and demonstrate Service Excellence standards at all times.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited or NLN-approved RN program.
  • Works with staff nurses, physicians, case managers, and other team members to ensure early assessment for VAD selection and implementation.
  • BLS and ACLS required.
  • Current state nursing license.
  • Assesses patients with difficult access or need for long-term IV therapy for appropriate vascular access device.
