Job Description

Johnson Regional Medical Center is currently seeking a dedicated and highly skilled Medical Technologist to join our team on a full-time basis, working weekend evenings and overnights. In this role, you will be responsible for processing laboratory specimens, reporting results, maintaining quality control practices, and functioning across various areas of the clinical laboratory.

Responsibilities

  • Perform high-complexity, moderate complexity, and waived testing in areas such as blood bank, chemistry, hematology, microbiology, and more.
  • Conduct quality control procedures, manage inventory, and ensure accurate documentation of procedures performed.
  • Collaborate with the Laboratory Manager, Pathologist, and clinical laboratory staff to optimize patient care and safety.
  • Maintain knowledge of new testing methods, technologies, and regulatory requirements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Medical Technology, Chemistry, or Biology preferred.
  • Associates degree in Medical Laboratory Technician with 2 years of experience in the Clinical Laboratory considered.
  • Certification is preferred with proficiency in basic computer knowledge and operating lab equipment.

Physical Demands

This position involves working in a hospital environment, handling lab analyzers, centrifuges, microscopes, and more. It requires standing, walking, and occasional lifting up to 35 pounds.

Regulatory Requirements

The ideal candidate must have effective communication skills in English, with additional languages preferred. Adherence to dress code, maintaining patient confidentiality, and participating in continuous quality improvement activities are essential.
